Blast Furnace Stockhouse Discharge System
The Discharge Delivery Gate Assembly is a 388.8 kg fabricated and machined unit installed at the Blast Furnace stockhouse to control release of burden material. A cast-lined chute is cradled between two welded plate assemblies joined by an alloy-steel cross-tube, with pinned levers and a locking rod enabling the chute to swing between locked and released positions during charging operations.
Stockhouse discharge points must handle repeated impact and sliding wear from abrasive burden material while staying structurally rigid and dust-tight during normal operation. Additional challenges include high loads on pivot pins and arms, alignment loss over repeated cycles, corrosion in a dusty environment, and the need for quick, reliable locking/unlocking without compromising accessibility for pin and bush replacement.
Sacrificial cast-iron liner rings protect the discharge bore, allowing renewal without scrapping the fabrication. Welded E250BR plate cradles, reinforced by an alloy-steel tie-tube, resist bending and racking loads. Bronze-bushed, H7-reamed pivots with match-machined bores maintain lever alignment and reduce friction, while the lever-and-locking-rod arrangement allows controlled actuation of the heavy chute against its dead weight.
The assembly provides a positively locked, wear-resistant discharge point capable of repeated cycling under abrasive loading with minimal misalignment. Replaceable liners and bushes reduce maintenance downtime, while ultrasonic-tested plates and controlled fillet welding ensure a reliable load path through the fabricated structure, supporting continuous Blast Furnace charging duty at the specified assembly weight.
